Project 1225 is about building a new museum, storage facility and tuatara enclosure for Invercargill and Southland.
This museum, a complete rebuild, will be the hinge on which the door to Southland's past, present and future will swing wide open to the world.
The name for the project – Project 1225 – has given us a deadline for the completion of the museum base build – December 2025. Join us on this journey to bringing our region’s stories back to life.
